  • Trujillo offers its visitors the legacy of the great discoverer who left its streets to take part in one of the greatest adventures in history.

There were many illustrious people who left their native Extremadura to embark on the magnificent ships headed for the New World. Some of them, those who gained greater glory on their daring journey, are proudly remembered by the lands that saw them grow and leave. Amongst them was Francisco Pizarro, born in Trujillo, who took Peru.

The House-Museum dedicated to this character, located in what used to be his family home, reviews the life of the explorer through objects, furniture, documents and re-creations.

The exhibition is divided into two parts – one on each floor of the building. On the ground floor, you can contemplate the re-creation of the house where Pizarro spent his childhood, and samples of the intercultural exchange that the discovery of America meant are on display.

Upstairs, the collection you'll see is dedicated to the life and work of Francisco Pizarro.
