The calm waters of the Charca La Torre Special Protection Area in Cáceres have favoured the creation of a microclimate which has provided shelter for many water birds.
Located in the district of Trujillo, in the heart of the province of Cáceres, the Charca La Torre SPA brings together a wide variety of aquatic birds. If you are a birdwatching fan, you cannot miss a trip to this wetland, which is considered of international importance in accordance with the Ramsar criteria.
Because its calm waters allow for the proliferation of a wealth of biodiversity, including not only birds, but also other species from the animal world, such as the Mediterranean turtle (Mauremys leprosa). But there is also magnificent flora here, typical of these wetlands, favouring the creation of a microclimate with the notable presence of colonies of cattle egrets (Bubulcus ibis).
