The municipality of Garciaz in Cáceres province contains the parish church of Santiago Apóstol, which dates back to the 15th century. Built by order of the bishop of Plasencia, the church was built using stone and slate, with ashlar blocks in the corners, buttresses and opening frames.

Inside the church is comprised of a simple 15th-century transept, with transverse arches resting on corbels and a tierceron vault. It also has side chapels, a sacristy and a baptistery, topped with a masonry barrel vault. The choir is located at the base of the church with and has a ribbed vault.

This church, which was restored in 1989 and of which only the main chapel is the original, contains pieces of great artistic value, like the 16th-century images of Saint Anne and the 17th-century ones of Saint Sebastian, Saint Blase, the Immaculate Virgin and a high-quality Ecce Homo. It was probably these works that earned the church its declaration as a historical and artistic monument of provincial interest-
